For me what started off as form turned into function. Although the form turned out beautiful!

Both, first mod grills, didn't like the look inside the fairings, second mod levers, the new ones look way better and perform better, third mod HIDs, can't see at night, always outrunning lights, not good, hopefully this will fix it. I've gone to Michelin PP 2CTs strictly for performance. Hoping to see *** when I get some shid squared away or funds saved up, strictly performance.

My bike sat stock for a couple of months; I was having too much fun feeling her out to shut down for mods. One day, she was backed over by a van and I used the insurance money to buy some stuff: exhaust, bar ends, tankbra, windscreen, pegs, etc. Seemed like once I started, I just couldn't stop. Admittedly, almost all of my mods are for comfort rather than performance - I do need to start looking at the suspension though.

I bought this bike with about $2500 worth of bolt ons. Went looking for a bike with mods. Think of it as a monthly stipend allocated towards new and cool stuff. Really enjoy writing about the all the mods & goodies.

i was always a HP junkie, and had been drooling over the Busa since i first saw one in 99....new as soon as I saw it, I had to see what the limits of the bike REALLY were...

faster foward 6 years, I get my Busa and two mos. after I bought it, I tossd it at 5o mph around a turn w/no gear on...bike is actally not harmed bad (tossd into grass) so I ride on-into '06 when I flipped it. Now want cosmetic mods and 'drivability' mods-throttlemeister, new rearsets, suspension mods etc...they impact my daily ride more than another 50hp from a turbo kit or NOS would. (promised the wife no more hi-speed runs on the bike...under 190mph...seriously, thats the deal! I would've had to lie if she asked for 170, n she knews it)

for me, my personality is part of my 'form' and the 'function' of my bike is always to reflect my personality...if that makes any sense

If it makes me faster I really don't care what it looks like.
I'll say the same thing I said when I first saw the Hayabeast - "Pretty doesn't mean fast."

A turbo hanging off the side with dump pipes is form and function. It's a piece of art.

This motor is all stock except the fan, airbox mod, 4-in-1, PC, okay not stock, but last time I added it up, it was over $9000 retail in mods. No didn't pay that, but if you had to buy them piece by piece. Longer you have this thing, more you do. Lot of travel items. Comm system, seat, windscreens (have 4), brakes, hardwired-in air compressor, that sort of thing. Best thing I ever did was put on the stock TL1000 rims, the Tobin, the Race Ready painted dash panels & the Bagster Tank Bra. Competes out the paint scheme.

Regardless of the color - when you start to carry through the paint scheme, really makes the bike shine.

    For both.
But I started with a Micron for performance over look. I wanted the serpent full system. Micron doesn't make the serpent for the Busa. Dealer ordered and said yes to serpent. I told them it wasn't avail.
I may upgrade this after a few other things. Dunno, it sounds awsome.

I'm still finding myself and wondering which is most important to me. So far, the answer has been function (where I've spent the most money), but I wouldn't be too surprised if one day I decided to build a totally tricked out bike for looks only. I'm still waiting on a inspirational and unique idea to come to me.

Why mod? Hmmm.. Well, I too have been a power junkie. When I was growing up, I learned how to rebuild Chevy 350's, the most common power plant of all time (Dad retired from GM hence the brand influence). The Busa was THE bike to end all others. Although it is fine in stock trim, fine is for the noncreative. Function first, form is just a bonus. There is the satisfaction when the mod is finished too, that you did it, you selected the parts, and turned the wrench that made the difference. Now if only I could buy my own CNC and lathe so I could start churning out my own custom parts! Oh yeah, the challenge for some of it. I never serviced forks before, but did my research, and jumped in, glad I did too.

Why I mod? Hmm let's see, I like how the bike looked from the first time I saw one back in 99, Then at the begining of 06 I happen upon Suzuki's web site and saw the 05 LE and said that look's too good to pass up, Loved the color so I had my dealer get me one in the crate. At this point I thought that Carbon would look good then I thought that the stock exhaust looked realy bad! During this time I had been checking out Hayabusa.org and saw what other's were doing and thought that it all looked good (caught the mod bug) This winter mods are mostly about comfort as I had this past summer to go on some nice rides and found where I had problems with the bike, Seat, Grips, Rear sets. All the electronic goodies on my bike are for shets and giggles for the most part even though they have an important job GPS so I know where I am going, TV and camera so that I can see where I have been! So did I answer the question why? Maybe not I realy don't know all I know is that I can't stop!!!!!!!!!

my friend (owns a ZX12R) kept askin me "why do you want to go faster? why do you need more power?" my answer is always the same-
I dont NEED it....I just want to see if I can:
    a) do it
    b) do it well!
    c) do it without killing myself...why is this not my TOP priority? LoL

now-Ive topped out my bike...more times than I care to remember, so??? filled the need for the speed, did some 10-sec 1/4mi times, now I want to make my bike, more like me-
an individual, very disticntive, with all the things I want in a Sportbike-because thats why i bought this thing in the first place...it reminds me of me:
    Big-Loud-Expensive-Powerful-Fast as f___!-and Cool!
(okay...Im cheap n slow, and not so cool anymore...but thats why I got a Busa! can I be cool now? please??)
