    Bike communication questions

OK, first let me say I know nothing about bluetooth, redtooth or greentooth.

I have been looking at the scala stuff that is being raffled off, but I wonder how that mic works with a full face helmet.

My question is two fold, maybe three. How do the mics work? What is the best system out there for bike to bike communication? Can you hook these up to a blackberry and recieve phone calls, listen to music, ect?

Does it come with a pair or do I have to buy two sets to use?

First off, like most products, "best" is relative to the person saying it's "best".

I use my Scala's with full face helmets. They are FANTASTIC! I can answer and make calls with my iPhone via bluetooth. And I can listen to music with my iPhone, but I have it wired to my Scala because my Scala doesn't support music over bluetooth. With it wired to my iPhone, both my wife and I can hear the music, and if one of us speaks the music mutes so that we can talk. As far as the mic, it is directly in front of your lips... and that's how it has to be placed. The mic does not pick up any wind noise.

And yes, you can buy the Scala in a pair. And yes, I will give you a killer deal.

Bigger and and a bit more full featured, My wife and I use the J&M Integrator With a Midland CB Setup. As I said it is larger than other products. I like the CB because frankly when I ride with my wife I will sometime loose sight of her but we can still speak. The CB also lets me hear the truckers on the longer rides they always seem to have information that is useful to me. Like where the speed traps are and where is the next decent place to eat. They have built in FM , bike intercom and you can plug your phone , GPS and mp3 player into them (all at the same time) As I said the one drawback is size not huge bu not small either.

A forum for motorcycle in general. This site is my personal website being ran by myself Heavybusa and soon BigGeorge. It is a place we can go and talk about all bikes dirt, street, cruiser or whatever else. Also a place we can converge on if Extreme ever has problems so you can get in touch with us to find out what is going on and when Extreme will be up and running again.

Take a a look at J&M, I have been using their systems for years and love it. A little $$$ but you get what you pay for. IMO, they are the BEST!

I will be getting a Scala sometime this spring I do think.

George, does the Q2 or any of the Scala support bluetooth music from a phone? I know I can play bluetooth music from my phone, but not sure which model Scala if any supports it.

The question is not how far. The question is do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith to go as far as is needed? The Duke.

Damn G4 looks the same size or about as the XBi. I liked that the Q2 and Solo were not that bulky when mounted to the lid.

George, I had the scala Q2 in my helmet for a day and I called Scala and they said I couldn't be wireless with music from my Ipod dongle/bluetooth transmitter. The q4 does have the A2DP bluethooth chip though. I think my sound quality in the xbI2 was louder but the voice activation on the scala is really neat.
    Have a great day
