Thread: EBC Rule Infractions & Disciplinary Actions

This post is probably long overdue but honestly, we haven't had to discipline many members to warrant this post. I'm posting it now as future reference material.

We have rules in place for various forums as well as EBC as a whole. Since April, I've been sending a "welcome" PM to new users w/ various links to threads pertaining to but not limited to EBC Navigation Assistance, New Members Forum, and most importantly the EBC Rules.

Keep in mind that just because it's not listed as a rule does not mean it is acceptable. If you have any doubt about something you're about to post, PM a Mod or Admin.

Of course, very few actually read the rules. Knowing this, every EBC Mod and Admin has placed a link to the rules in their signature. This took place a couple of months ago.

Recently added, prior to being granted access to certain forums, you have to select the "Yes" checkbox at the bottom of a textbox which contains the rules for that particular forum.

So there are various ways in which all members are made aware of the rules. It would behoove you to review them.

At this point, Housekeeping has taken the "smacks on the wrist" for infractions to a new level. There's no valid reason as to why you should not be aware of the EBC Rules.

Unannounced to many, EBC has always had written forms of disciplinary actions.

Details:

• Offense #1 - Written notice detailing the offense
• Offense #2 - Written notice detailing the offense plus a 15-day ban
• Offense #3 - Written notice detailing the offense plus a 30-day ban
• Offense #4 - Banned

Thankfully, we haven't had to use the above frequently but now you know they are in place.

We have recently incorporated the Infraction System.

Details:

• 1 infraction = 1 infraction point
• 1 infraction point lasts for 45 days
• 3 infraction points = posting privileges removed (length of time TBD probably 15 consecutive days)

Hopefully we will not have to expand the Infraction System. If there comes a time in which we do, this post will be updated.

Infractions are given on a case by case basis. If you post a sale prior to having the required 25 minimum posts you'll probably get an infraction point opposed to a written notice. If you decide to bash another member you'll probably get an infraction point in addition to a written notice. Depending upon the case, you may have already been given an infraction point for your first offense and later be given a written notice for your second offense. It all depends on the infraction itself.
