Thread: Does not start....

I dont know if it is the correct sub-forum so forgive me...

My problem is that after a long or short trip the engine wont start(i noticed when it is only hot).The fuel's pump noise (zzz)is working.It is not the first time that wont start.

I will give you an example to understand what i mean.Today i went a 50 km distance trip.I stoped for about 20 minutes to wait for my friend.After that i tried to start the engine......but nothing.The starter run fast and the sound of the fuel pumb was good.I switch on/off the key 3-4 times but nothing.I switch on/off the kill switch 2-3 times .....but nothing.Finaly after 10 times of trying the engine started.

I went for coffe,i stayed 1 hour and then i tryied to start the engine.The engine started immediately.I went back home i switch off the engine and after 20 minutes i tryied to turn it on,again started immediately.

I want to inform you that i have done service to the fuel pump,to injectors.Also i changed the sparks with iridium and the FI is not flashing.

Sam, my most likely cause: Heat soak of the fuel pump/lines; although its buzzing, it may not be pumping fuel, cavitating air from the lines getting too hot and the fuel boils in the lines, thus making a fuel starvation issue.

Could also be fuel is leaking into the cylinders causing a flooding condition. This can be checked pretty easy. Start the bike and run it out for 50km or so. Go home and shut it off. Attempt to start once, if it does not start, pull the spark plugs and look for wetness, which will indicate fuel. If this is the case, you need to look at doing the throttle body synch, and throttle cables adjustment as they might be slightly cracked open during crank up.

My last option, not knowing year or miles on the bike, is the stator going bad since its doing this after warm-up run. Heat soak of the ignition. Check this by lifting the tank, crank it after its been run hot and wont start, pull a plug and check for spark. You can do this right before pulling a plug to see if its wet. If no spark, then that would be it.

I agree with all of the above, but focus on the fuel delivery.

I had a similar problem matter of fact exactly like this check ur battery also! I had a dead cell and it would cause my battery 2 short itself out after a load

if you start it cold,then shut it off,will it start right back up? just wondering if it is the clutch switch thingy majigger...

I've had this same exact problem on my 2000

Bike won't start. Any help?

I'm pretty inclined to think that it's Vapor lock.

Vapor lock doesn't happen between the pump and the carb, it happens between the tank and the pump. The suction of the pump lowers the pressure in the line and a t the same time lowers the evaporation point of the fuel. So if you have a restriction or a hot spot in the line the fuel evaporates before it gets to the pump. The pump won't pump enough vapors to run the engine.
So check for areas where the line runs close to the exhaust system or lays downstream of heat from the exhaust. Best way: drive it till it falters, crawl underneath and run your hand down the fuel line feeling for hot spots. They'll be easy to find.
Check for restrictions: smashed lines, plugged lines, plugged pickup filters and the most insidious of them all the deteriorated rubber line on top of the tank.

Ok i uderstand what are you trying to say.I will put something under the fuel lines to stop as i can the warming in that position...

Thanks a lot Heavybusa for your time...Ok my next step is to put a material around the fuel pump to protect from heating,also and the fuel lines.I found a meterial from polyester and aluminioum i wiil buy it and i will post it.I hope it will works.
