    What's your thoughts on these?

Just curious as to what you drag racers thought of these? Did you ever use them? They are Pingel brand wheelie bars. I really want to run my bike a few times this year just figured this might help with launching on a stock swingarm bike.

I have never drag raced a bike, but I would think that it could be violent when you hit the bar unless you build it so it rolls like a third tire. I may be 100% wrong

DO you think you need them on a stock motor... I would think with a little slipping of the clutch and feathering of the throttle is all you need.... JMO

I really have not seen anyone use these while dragging a stock bike. I think that they would hit pretty hard. If you are going to make these make sure that they a perfectly square so you don't get shot to the side. I worked at a race shop and they built them all in a jig once they got everything set perfectly.

Soooooo, I disagree to a certain extent.

I think they are great training wheels for a young racer or someone who may have a disability.

With that being said I believe pingle is the only company making them and someone was telling me that they were disappointed in the permanent mounting system that they used.

My son ran them for a while at the local 1/8 mile track but had to replace the back shock with a solid piece to stop rear wheel hop. He went back to stock after he got tired of the training wheels jokes. lol
For what it's worth it did help keep the front end down but what the heck kind of fun is that?

The bars will need a solid strut. The shock won't work. They also take some time to get right. If you have them wrong, you will launch into the wall or the tree. Also, it changes the way you steer the bike. On the bar, you steer by shifting weight, not by input on the handle bars. Not to mention you need enough motor to keep you "on the bar" when launching.

With all that being said, slip the clutch, learn to use the throttle and clutch in conjuction with each other, and you'll be a better rider because of it. Yes, the bike will want to wheelie. Take it slow and easy and learn how to ride it. Seat time is key here. Start by launching at 3K and sliding the clutch out while at the same time pinning the throttle. Raise the launch rpm's by 500 once you get comfortable. I leave at 5500 and believe me when I say that is plenty!! Remember a busa makes a ton of torque down low. You can stop a wheelie by feathering the clutch a bit or backing off the throttle a touch. DO NOT CHOP THE THROTTLE!! Have fun, relax, and stay safe. There should be some bike guys out there. Ask for tips and help. They will love to give you some help, we've all been there!

By the way. Us Real Street, Super Street, and ET Street guys call those "sissy sticks". Just sayin!! LOL!!!

I haven't seen any busas at the track with wheelie bars. Maybe I'm at the wrong track.

Lower your bike if you can. I use adjustable lowering links. I hate the "three hole" design. Put on a strap and pull it down to where you have about an inch of travel in your front forks. Then, just make passes. Practice getting the clutch out and the throttle pinned by the 60ft mark. It is hard to do especially when the bike you are on is in the process of scaring the crap out of you!! If you haven't done the clutch mod, now is a good time. Again, seat time is the key. By the way, be careful at the big end. Sit up and use your body as a brake. LIGHTLY use your brakes and bring them in harder as you need them. Don't just come down on them. I've seen too many people spill it in the traps. Just have fun. Realize that the fast guys you have been watching probably have a couple of hundred passes or more under their belts. Don't try and be a hero, just have fun and do it again the next weekend!!

Thanks for the info! I'm thinkin I might make me some as I did wolfman, and ralph has a strap. Now I just need to find where I put my doh the girlfriends got them that's right! I was nervous being on the strip the first time in my mustang, makes me even more nervous knowing I'll be on two wheels but like many have said I'll take my time and have fun the same.
