Thread: Bayway Reopened After Motorcyclists Arrested

A portion of the Bayway has been reopened after Alabama State Troopers arrested at least a dozen motorcyclists for speeding. Troopers say the motorcyclists were driving speeds in excess of 140 miles per hours going west on Interstate-10. According to officials, Troopers used a vehicle to block off the westbound lanes extending from the Daphne exit to Exit 30 near Battleship Park around 10:44 this morning to stop the speeders and cut off any escape routes. Troopers say that all of the motorcyclists were arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, which is a misdemeanor offense. They will be taken to Baldwin County jail and are eligible for bond. Wreckers have removed the vehicles from the scene. Traffic on the Bayway is back to normal. Troopers say this arrest is the first in their Take Back Our Highways campaign, which will begin Monday at midnight.

In the video link it said they were going to a cancer benefit ride. I wonder if the judge will forward the money he collects from them or will they just buy more gas for the patrol cars?

Just an FYI for anyone who's going to be traveling through Alabama in the near future, Our State Troopers are on a new campaign & will be SERIOUSLY cracking down on speeding! They've got many new unmarked, & out-of-the-ordinary, patrol cars with standard license plates. They especially have a thing for bikes, so everyone be careful in this state, they're out to prove a point these days.

Honestly, if you have a whole group of guys going that fast, you are asking for it. The cops can't let that slide. I went by one this morning at 20 over, he didn't even give me a look, but I was by myself, and not in traffic.

I`ll not be driving trough Alabama anyway, I have no love in Alabama. Screw Alabama.

It's very similar over here in England,two or three bikes in a group and generally you get left alone. Large groups and cops start pulling everyone,and not just for speeding either,small licence plates(or what they deem to be too small),loud pipes,tinted visors,anything they can get you on! Our traffic police are very anti-bike unfortunately.

You can do large group rides here, on Hardley's. Of course most of them ride under the speed limit anyway and there's usually a lawyer in the group.

Great, here comes the beginning of constantly being pulled over for the bike looking fast.
