I am a bit concerned about the shaved tire thingy. Do you think it is worth the risk - ie: how much gain in speed will you get compared to stock? You are not planning on running at the flats with shaved tires are you?
Well then your REALLY going to like this Pic! Unfortunately after they arrived in the Mail we discovered they were too small Kind of looks like a StarWars Storm Trooper.

Hey everyone. SRAD here. What you run into with the tires is centrifugal force which at 200mph is pretty great I'm sure so the recommendations we are getting is to shave some of the tread from the edge towards the center in order to decrease the amount of mass pulling the tire to expand. While pretty much leaving the center of the tire alone. We have also been advised to heat cycle the tires about 3 times to help the rubber "Cure" . Hey we're RoadRacers so this is all pretty new to us!
I would like to Thank Big George for helping us out and all of the Members here for your support!

If you are concerned about saving as much weight as possible, I would nix the rear brake caliper and stay as well as remove the kickstand (temp, only for the attempt...you wont need it obviously if you have stands). I would also either get rid of the stock pegs and replace with billet (can bet ebay specials for $20), or take the weights off the bottoms and remove the handle bar ends and everything from the trunk of course (tools and tank prop). I see that the bus has the hump mod...obviously take the grab bar off.
also something that WILL help you out a bit, is if you do the box mod and seals...TAKE OUT THE SCREENS ON THE FRONT OF THE TUBES! Every little bit helps for pressurizing that box.
Another thing if you want to save cash and dont have a lot of time...replace the steering damper oil with 90w gear oil in case it gets squirrelly...
Wow, George is suddenly into Land Speed Racing, imagine that. I hope you get more support on here now than I have in the past from him. I've been racing since before this board existed and he hasn't much been into it, although a bunch of the members have. Especially my on board sponsor Thunder Composites!
BTW, I've been over 200 mph on my naked nitrous busa and so has Connie Beavers on her faired nitrous busa, so it's not just girls on turbos. (but I have been 212 on a turbo! )
Also, I run the stock hayabusa tires, virtually new, a few street miles to scrub the gook off. My husband Todd has been 207 (so far) on the faired nitrous busa I built. (I haven't run it faired yet) I'm very happy with the stability of the stock (unshaved) tires through those speeds.
Good luck with your goal and let me know if there's any more I can do to help. BTW, you never did say if you needed the measurement on that fuel pump.

Thanks George, I appreciate your apology. This has nothing to do with money or sponsorship. It was support in general were were seeking. Todd and I tried really hard to get the racing section going but the support and enthusiasm for the most part wasn't there. Racing is important to us to the point of being a way of life and business but we do understand it's not even significant to some people. Regardless we always try to support and encourage people when they're doing what they want to do and love to do regardless of any personal involvement. Watching, encouraging and supporting people that are working towards a goal is a joy in life. Being there to pat them on the back, share and enjoy their successes and see the smiles and pride when they've accomplished their goal is one of the priceless treasures of life.
So anyway... after I posted last night I counted it up and to my knowledge there have been 7 women over 200 mph on two wheels and five of them are in official 200 MPH clubs. Leslie is the Queen of us all with her smoking 232 MPH record run at Bub this year! She's also a Texas lady and you will likely get to meet her and Jen at the Texas Mile in a month. Leslie is a ball of fun and Jen, who I've only spoken to online, seems to be a real sweetheart as well. At any rate, there's LOTS of room for more ladies and you can bet we're all here cheering you on!

Yeah, when this thread came down I was thinking of you Deb, and Todd, and that you might know these folks. Glad you chimed in. It's all good, EBC is a great place with great people and great administration! keep up the incredible job with all that you and Todd do! By the way, I am getting a turbo Busa next month that is set up for LSR. I'll have to do some minor adjustments for Maxton, nothing major, but might you be interested in Jockying for me?
