Best way to haul 2 busa in truck?

Alright getting ready for the ECHR on June 13th. Ill be hauling down 2 busas in the back of my F150 5.5 bed. What is the best way to haul and secure two bikes? The MULLET will be in its favorit Baxely chock. We dont have one for the other Busa.
Plan to place 2 2x4 infront of its wheel to keep the fender off the front of the bed. For the backs....run tie down to rear low hooks of truck to pass grab bar, other grab bar to other busa grab bar, then grab bar to other rear low tie down hook. Each of these sections will have its own ratchet strap! What about the fronts...What is the best way to secure them to the truck and to keep them apart from each other????? I do have a canon dancer....but with two bikes....dont think I can go direct to the trucks tie downs.
Both Busa are stretched 9 - 10 inch and the rear wheels rest on the center of the down tail gate. Yea lots of valubal weight on the gate...mya not be good. Plan to rest the arms underbracing on 2x4 nailed together and then let the air rides down. This will transfure the rear of the bike weight to the end of the bed and the arms under bracing.

So think I just need info for securing the fronts. Thanks....never had to haul 2 bikes before.

It sounds like you know your rig and have a plan. So I'll make the first super obvious comment.

Trailer rental is better/cheaper than scratches or "real"damage.

I know, I know....this is not new info, but it sounds like you've identified the weak links in the chain...ie weight on tailgate etc... so now think of the aggravation of damaging the bike (or bikes) on the road, paying for the parts, having to fix it....the whole time cursing yourself over the trailer rental price. The cursing myself for days/weeks till it's all fixed is my personal hell.

I hope this didn't come off badly, just trying to be the voice of reason. We've all broken/damaged stuff trying to save a buck, or use what's at hand to get the job done. Some times it works, some times you're me.

    I hope all works out

NO thats the way Id dont want to see them when we get there.

THought about the trail cause there is the possible that could have a third Busa to haul. But even with 2 in a uhaul trail that I can get enclosed for the weekend for total of $34 bucks....still need to figure out how to secure the fronts of the bikes. I know how I alway do the MULLLET but the second bike gets in the way of the tie down straps for that.

The only way I can think of doing it is to use a piece of ply wood under the bikes with heavy duty eyelets mounted in the front center of the board. The tail gate problem still has me thinking. I have a 5.5' bed (Titan) also any I just let the rear tire sit on the gate. I do ride my bike up and down the ramps so I know the gate will hold my bike and me (270lbs). Im not sure about adding another rear tire to the gate but I would think fords make there gates strong enough to handle it.

Hey if all else fails just ride the bikes down.

One in the Baxley, and if there's room you get the front tire of the other bike tucked into the corner as tight as possible. Use 4 straps on it (2 on either side of the bars and 2 on either side of the rear passenger pegs) all pulling forward, and the bike can stay on the sidestand. Plenty of customers have hauled oversized HD's like this.

And if you want to buy my spare Condor let me know and I'll bring it with me to VA.

When we towed to daytona, we used a 2x8 piece of pine with an E-trac bolted to it and some removable hooks, they are clipped in, so you can move them anywhere on the trac. On the back I used soft ties for dirt bikes, wrapped around the rear peg bracket, tied down with a ratchet strap, seemed to work better than going through the grab bar.

Yea I coming. I have a pretty easy setup putting my bike in the back of my truck that way I don't have to ride it down early in the morning.

Thanks for the offer tho. I think your better off with going with a trailer. Its its just safer with having two bike that are easily over 15k each.

Stopped by a trailer shop today. They looked at my truck after explaining to them what I was hauling and the value of what I was hauling. SOLD me a D-ring and mount hardware for in the center front of my truck bed.
Installed it right at the bed crossbeam support. THat should help out with strapping down the bikes. Also made the 2x4 beam for under our swingarms to set the underbracing of the arms on to keep the stretched rear weight off the tailgate. Loading up tomorrow night for Saturdays trip down to the ECHR.

Sure hope there is some slopes or big islands to put the front of the trucks 35s up on. Need to get the tailgate lower to get the BUSAs off at meeting place.
