I sold the 'Busa yesterday - and I have to say it was hard to see her being rode off without me in the saddle. I'll miss the bike (perhaps more than I know), but it was time for a new chapter in riding to begin.
The last three years have been very difficult times in our household. In 2009 my mother-in-law passed away, followed in 2010 with my dad's passing, and then 2011 saw my father-in-law leave as well. It seemed the 3 years were spent dealing with one medical issue after another - so much so that we never had time to ride. The inspection stickers on all the bikes had long since expired, and the batteries were all dead - and riding was just a fond memory. Couple this with personal "job issues" and it's been hell to say in the least.
However - time rolls on and you can either sit there and complain, or you can get out and do something about it. And we're gearing up to make some changes this year. First change was to cut a few bikes from the garage. And while I had NO intention of starting with the 'Busa, I found a "WTB" ad on Craigslist on Monday and before I knew what had happened the new owner was riding off on Tuesday. He was EXTREMELY happy with the purchase and I was satisfied with the sale.
So what's next? The wife is tired of constantly having to refuel her '06 Mean Streak when we ride, so it's next on the "gotta sale" list. She want's to use the "backup bike" (Kawasaki Ninja 650R) as her main ride if I can get it about an inch lower. Found a kit online that will do just that - so she's set for now. As for me, I'm looking for a good deal on a Dual Sport so I can do the LA to Vegas run over the Thanksgiving weekend. I'm also looking for something along the lines of a ZRX 1100... It ain't no 'Busa, but it should be a fun ride.
At any rate, I haven't been on the board much since my dad passed, and it looks like I'll be here even less now that I'm "Busa-less. So I wanted to thank everyone for the time spent here on the forum. It's been a great place to hang out!
I have a few odds and ends laying around for the "Busa that I'll post up in a few days. I have two tank protectors - one of which is a color matching Bagster. I also have a "never opened" 'Busa center stand to sell. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. I have no idea what I paid for the items or what they are worth, but I'll do a bit of research and come up with a fair price in a few days.
Should be an interesting year!
