Hey Gang, right now I'm running a Group Buy for the new GoPro Hero Video Camera for this month. If you have never heard of the GoPro, read on...
This adventure sports video camera has been out for a couple years, but what's new is a Wide version they released last fall. It has a 170 degree wide angle lens on it, ruggedized, no wires, uses a 2 gb SD card, waterproof to 100 ft (think scuba, diving, snorkeling, any surfers?), and numerous mounting options. Videos widely available shot with the camera span base jumping, skateboarding, auto racing, bicycles, and of course we motorcyclists.
GoPro technically does not allow group buys for their products, so to create a deal, PashnitMoto will pay your shipping, plus throw in a free 2gb SD card to get you rolling. 3 versions to choose from, the Motosports Kit is what most motorcyclists would likely be interested in.
I own 2 other DVR camera systems, and my ride partner has another too. This is my 4th one I've owned, and already my favorite. I could blather on, but click the link and read up....
if i get the m109 i will be all over this (spend more time leisurely cruising...dont think i would trust myself wanting to "showboat" for the camera on my busa LOL)
Fire, GoPro has MAP Pricing & flat out said they would not allow a (classical) Group Buy, basically the $199 for the motorsports kit is what I was told I had to sell it at. ($140 is their base kit without any mounts) $199 is to your door.
However, still can create deal for you since we'll pay the ship for you and save you the 10 bucks, plus throw in a 2gb SD card for you which run $15-30 apiece (depending on where you get them). Basically saves you $20-40 bucks. Possibly you already have some SD cards, my cameras all use CF cards, so I got 2 of them which gives me about 4 hrs per day of record time plus shooting still photos like ones above.
The timed-photos is a new feature to me, I can always use on-board ride photos for the Pashnit site, so first time I've ever had a camera that would do that. We'd find a twisty road, set it up, and let it run 5 min or so.
And yes, ship this anywhere on the globe.
Got asked about watersports application- surfing, scuba, etc, check this out
Actually so far, I like the ball mount on the end of the handlebars the best. Nice thing about this is you would put a RAM 1" ball mount on any bike, (well, most) and put the camera there with a few RAM attachments.
I have Throttlemeisters on both of my bikes and wasn't quite sure how to mount the ball. On the right side, the Thottlemeister needs to rotate so you can't mount anything on the outside. A call in to Fred over at Throttlemeister and he sent me some longer bolts with a bushing made just for the recessed well that the normal alan head bolt sits in. So I've managed to put ball mounts on both handlebar ends, and I can put the GoPro in either position.
Haven't shot any footage or video on the Busa yet with that setup, but that's on the list. That birds-eye photo of riding through the twisties is what I'm going for.
On the K1200R, I've managed to mount 14 ball mounts on the bike. Which'll give me 14 positions to shoot from.
