Had a mishap of the known "cheap" density of the tail compared to the density on front cowlings when puting in the screen covers in. Used too much head to set the screens in the plastic when utilizing the soldering iron method, which resulted in dimples in the front surface around the inlet holes. My brother, 19years experience in spraying / bodywork on MAC trucks, said he could fix it as good as new. Not waiting for him (2months later) I had purchased a brand new tail from our Sponser of the Year, Cat3. (AWESOME SERVICE AND DELIVERY, btw). Got the tail back yesterday and wishing I would of waited.
Tail has or never had cracks or broken tabs of any sort. Area around inlet holes was resurfaced and color matched. The ENTIRE tail was clear cear coated with Ultra7000 clear (SherwinWilliams) so the tail stickers looks exactly like the tank stickers. Truth be told, I can't make up my mind on which tail I'd like to keep cause the tail clear coated over the stickers looks sweeeeet.
So heres the deal which will help make my decision.
New tail for 275 + shipping. (never mounted, brand new with screens installed without heat..lol
or
Used tail as shown below, 3000 miles on it, 210 + shipping.

Thank you Sir I'll pass on to him. Pictures really don't do it justice as I was trying to get the flash focused to bring out the blue / red metallic in the paint. Needless to say, I'm giving him one peice at a time to clear the rest of the bike as well (to exclude the tank). Josephs' mirrors are being worked on as we speak.

I wish you guys were closer, I could use some talent like that on my ride. Good luck on the sale.

Out of curious,are the fairings clear coated over the stickers from the factory?
Like is that a factory finish,how it would come off the production line?
Because im about to get one sprayed up an want to know etc.

yeah nem mate ya should've asked when i was talking to you earlier. only the tank is clear coated but once you've had a good gloss coat done over the decals it looks heaps better IMHO. only trouble it can cause is if you need to get it repainted it can be a bitch to strip.
